Cadmium Interiors, now Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, was contracted by the Chicago Gift Market of the Merchandise Mart to curate the main lobby spaces of the Merchandise Mart. We had to creatively display hundreds of products from over 50 vendors for this wholesale gift show. The areas we designed included the North Lobby, South Lobby, Main Lobby in front of the Elevators, and the 8th Floor.

In our brainstorming phase- we decided that we needed a theme to pull alll of the areas together. We chose Alice In Wonderland. A wacky, fun, silly theme could really stir things up. We started watching the movie for ideas and sketching. In the Main Lobby in front of the elevator banks we treated the columns by hanging hand-made cards strung up to make an impact in this space.

For the North Lobby, we had fun putting together a long party table that resembled the Mad Hatter theme. This table was placed next to the Gourmet section of the Gift Market.

In the Buyer's Lounge on the 8th Floor we incorporated outdoor furniture from the Design Center and paired it with the Chicago Gift Market vendors.

The participants of the show and the Marketing Department of the Chicago Gift Market was pleased with the design of the show, as well as our professionalism in handling all logistics related to the show.
